UNTITLED is back and It brings us great pleasure to present to untitled party goers, an artist who has influenced us massively since the very beginnings of untitled.
He has rarely participated in interviews or photoshoots. This is not the result of a desire to engineer intrigue or mystique, but is the consequence of his desire to be judged as an artist solely by his musical output, rather than his words or pictures. A string of house-oriented 12′′s for labels such as Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Clone and Aus, including his collaborative Hawkes & Blake project, have encompassed everything from soulful vocal cut-ups to jacking drum-machine jams.
His DJ sets have won over fans far and wide with their all-encompassing yet coherent nature, blowing away crowds at Sub Club in Glasgow, Panorama Bar in Berlin and fabric in London. Marquis Hawkes has found a home on fabric’s Houndstooth imprint, with a trio of exceptional EPs winning him swathes of new fans, from the DJ booth to the radio studio to, of course, the dancefloor.
These excellent achievements have only been consummated by the recent release of his stunning “social housing” album on houndstooth.
Those who have attended recent untitled party’s know how it goes down and its needless to say Marquis will bring that added magic to the club that will be hard to rival.
